Sorry about the shadows... I need to invest in a "real" camera! |
This color is "Cool Lava" by Behr, and I think it is the PERFECT shade of coral! Not too pink, not too orange.
I used interior latex paint with a flat finish. I really, really liked this paint. It dried to the touch quickly, but not so quick that I had excessive brush strokes. I invested in an nice Purdy brand paintbrush, and had no problems. I did use a foam roller on the top and sides of the dresser. The flat finish helps to hide the imperfections also. I did two coats of this primer:
And then three thin coats of paint. The paint covered well, but coral is a tricky color. If I use it again on a big piece, I will tint the primer. I let each coat of primer and paint dry for a full 24 hours before I did the next coat.
I haven't fully decided if I am going to use a sealant like poly or wax yet. I really, really like the flat finish, it almost looks like chalk paint! So for now I will see how it holds up. If I find the paint alone doesn't hold up, I'll probably go with wax to try and keep the glossiness down.
Not too bad for a $30 goodwill find! |
So what do you think? I will post another update when I get the TV set up. I also plan on buying two of these :
