Ikea Rast Nightstand Hack!

Has anyone seen IkeaHackers.net? This website shows how you can take some basic furniture pieces from Ikea, and turns them into amazing, unique decor for your home! I had been searching for a long time for two matching night stands for my bedroom. I had originally planned on finding two second hand tables to paint white, but everything was either too ugly, too much money, or there was only one. Then I saw this post over at 4Men 1Lady:

Basically my dream bedroom!

I can do this...

And then, I saw these beauties for $34.99 each at Ikea:

Ikea Rast 3 Drawer Chest

And I decided to DIY my own Ikea hack!(Ok, so I really only painted them, but that still counts as a hack, right?)

I bought two of these guys and loaded them up, brought them home and assembled them. Took me and my husband about 30 mins to put together both, it was fairly simple.
Assembled

After I assembled them, I realized since I was painting the insides of the drawer a different color, it would be easier to do with them apart. So I then took the drawers back apart!

I don't have any in progress photos, but after two trips to walmart for extra primer (the raw wood really soaks it up!) here they are:

I plan on replacing the knobs with something more exciting, if I can ever make up my mind! I painted the outside white, and the inside of the drawers is "BauHaus Gold" by Krylon.

I found this awesome fabric on my first trip to the fabric store! That is rare for me, usually I have to take about 5 trips before I can decide, but this one was perfect!

Gray and yellow with little birds... Amazingness.

I used Modge Podge to adhere the fabric to the drawer bottoms before I reassembled the drawers.
I'm picturing maybe some clear glass knobs?

I LOVE how they turned out! And currently they are the only piece of finished furniture in my bedroom! Once I decide on some knobs I will post an update.

Has anyone else tried an Ikea Hack lately?

    1. Thanks so much! I also love bird patterns... and they are gaining popularity now, so it's easier to find them!
