A Few of My Favorite Things...

In celebration of it being Friday, and the fantastic weather we are having in Florida, I decided to post five of my current favorite things.

1.

Young House Love Target Collection

Teal Octopus Hook, $11.99

White Chihuahua Hook, $9.99

Hexagon Picture Hanger, $6.99

I am LOVING everything in the collection. They even have a  hook/rail combo that has tons of custom options! And those prices are crazy... I think that teal octopus is going to find it's way into my basket soon. It's all been designed by Sheri and John from my favorite blog, Young House Love. I may or may not stalk their blog on a regular basis.

2.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Guys, this stuff is great. I struggle with oily skin, no matter what soap, or creams or products I use, I typically have to apply and reapply powder throughout the day, and I go through those oil blotting sheets like crazy. This stuff has really, really cut down on that! My shade is soft beige, and it blends really well, and doesn't look caked on. I typically follow this up with the Stay Matte Pressed Powder, and I've cut down my touch ups to once a day at most.

The best part? It cost me about $5 at Walmart. Sold!

3.

Aldi

I don't know exactly how far spread Aldi is, but if you have one near you and you haven't been, GO! I do about 80% of my grocery shopping there and I always save SO much. Cheaper than Publix(even with sales), Winn Dixie, Sam's Club and Walmart! Not to mention, the atmosphere is much more relaxing than Walmart. I don't know what it is about that store, but I always leave feeling frazzled.

The way Aldi is able to keep their prices so low(sometimes 1/2 the cost of other stores!) is the way they manage their stores. They don't give you bags. You either bring reusable bags with you(what I do), or you can purchase paper bags for $0.6 each and plastic for $0.12. Although they also will give you product boxes to carry your things in as well.

Also, you have to take a quarter with you if you want a shopping cart. Sounds weird, but basically there is a device that locks the carts together, you insert a quarter and one cart comes unlocked. When you return the cart, you get your quarter back. This keep them from having to pay staff to collect carts.

Our Aldi is small but very well laid out, wide aisles and everything is easy to find, unlike Walmart who has the most illogical stocking design I've ever seen!

Aldi sells mainly it's own brands, similar to other discount stores, but they do have name brand occasionally. Everything Aldi brand that I've tried from cheese to pasta has been delicious, save for their brand of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Tasted like cardboard, but their other cereals are good.

The main downside is that sometimes I will find a product that I really like, and they will sell out quickly and never have it again. So if you see something for a really good price, stock up! After a few trips you will learn what they stock all the time vs limited availability items.

4.

Frozen

If you haven't heard the buzz about this movie, you must be living under a rock. If you haven't seen the movie, go out and buy it now. It's that good. I have watched it multiple times and I really want the soundtrack. It's funny and sad and touching all at the same time, and the music is phenomenal. It's one of Disney's best movies since I was a kid, and if you have a sister it will be extra special to you. Go watch it!

5.

My new bangs!

This one might seem a bit self promoting, but I got bangs cut on Saturday, and after the initial "Why won't you lay straight!!!" phase, I really, really love them. I can wear them pulled forward like the photo, or push them over for a side swept look. Sometimes, you just need a change, and this hit the spot for me.

Happy Friday Y'all!

*FYI: I was not compensated for anything in this post. None of the people or companies have any idea who I am. Except, for myself, of course. Although I sometimes wonder.
