My thrifty finds: One man's trash...

I've made some great finds this weekend!! Last night, I was taking the trash out to the compactor at our complex, and lo and behold, there was someone getting rid of the exact patio furniture I have been scouring Craigslist for!

A fresh coat of paint and new cushions and these babies will be good to go! I was shocked that someone would just throw these away because they are in great condition!

Then, I stopped by one of my local goodwills, and happened to come across this:

It's a discontinued storage bench from ikea! The tan cushions were really dirty though:

I contemplated trying to sew new ones(too complicated for my rudimentary sewing skills), and I actually dragged that into Walmart to see if they sold replacement cushions (they don't). So then I decided my best option would be to dye them, so I picked up some black fabric dye. However, I was pleasantly surprised that after a good run through the washer (with hot water and vinegar added in) they looked like this:

Not a spot to be seen! Every tiny mark is completely gone, they look brand new! I did make the mistake of drying them, so I had a hard time getting the foam back in, but I managed.

I love the "hidden" storage under the seat! Now I just need to get some bins for the shelves and I'll be set! I am super thrilled, because I only paid $14.99 for this bench, and it retailed at ikea for around $100. It fits in perfect for extra storage and seating in my craft room. Score!
