Chalkboard picture frames: DIY!

Today I'm going to show you how to make your own chalkboard frame! These have been all over pinterest lately, and for good reason! You can use them in the kitchen for grocery lists, menu planners, or in an office, for "To Do" lists, or just to write cute notes to your spouse on!

So to start I took the glass out on the frames, so I wouldn't need to tape it off for painting.

Now you'll see the frames are upside down. I was originally planning on painting the backs of the frames also, but then I realized it would make the screws sticky and decided against it. I made sure that the frames and glass were super clean, and then gave them all two coats of gray primer.

I decided on these colors:
Cherry Red by Krylon

White gloss by Krylon
Quickly becoming a favorite!

I gave the frames three coats of paint, and the glass I gave six thin coats. I'm finding with the chalkboard paint that to get a smooth, thick surface you need to apply many coats. But even with many coats, one can still goes pretty far!

And here's the after!

I love how these turned out! Both of these chalkboards are up for sale, if anyone is interested send me a message! Happy Thursday!
