"Shabby Chic" Dining Chairs

I bought these chairs off craigslist a couple weeks ago, intending on keeping them for myself. However, as soon as I got them home and set them next to my dining table, I knew they would not work. Just not the right style. So, I decided to fix them up and sell them!

Here's the before:

This is the craigslist photo!

They were pretty dirty, and one chair was missing a finial on the top. After closer inspection, more than half of the remaining finials were loose, so I ended up just replacing them all. I found replacements at Hobby Lobby that fit the bill nicely.

I used Gorilla brand wood glue to attach them to the chairs. It was my first time using any kind of gorilla glue, and I really liked it! Easy to apply, doesn't smell, doesn't "puff" up while drying, and it really does dry super strong! Plus it's very affordably priced.

Next I sanded and cleaned the chairs, and boy, they were dirty! I had to really use some elbow grease!

Then I gave them all two thin coats of white primer:

Then two coats of Glossy White by Rustoleum. I also replaced the seat cushions with a pretty gray fabric that I scored on clearance from Hancock Fabrics. And here they are!

That detail was just perfect for distressing!

These babies sold in less than two weeks! I would have kept them for myself, but my ideas for my dining room are ever evolving. I'll post an update on that soon. Thanks for reading!
