ANOTHER upcycled jewelry box!

What is it with me and vintage jewelry boxes? I just can't stay away! I found this one hiding in the back of the thrift store, begging to be saved. Aside from being badly outdated, it was in really good shape, and it has a lot of storage! Here's the before:




And  after some careful taping:



I gave it a few coats of Rustoleum's paint + primer in "Winter Gray". I chose to tape off the drawers and leave the insides on them the original wood. I like the contrast, and also painting them can cause sticking issues.



After the paint was dry, I applied some polycrylic to seal it, and clean out the velvet with rubbing alcohol(works like magic!).

I love the shutter detail on the doors.. I think the paint brings that out better!






So what do you think? Would you have chosen gray, or maybe a bolder color, like teal?
